Start with your name, your parents, and your ancestral roots. FamilyOS uses AI to build your tree, trace your family’s journey across generations, and help you discover relatives around the world.

Genealogy

Describe your family. Get a tree.

Paste a paragraph — grandparents, aunts, second marriages, emigration — and the platform proposes a full structure: people, parent links, marriages. You review before anything is saved. Nothing is applied without your say-so.

Names in the demo are fictional — the Bakhtiar family below doesn’t exist. Try Quickstart with your own family after signing up.

AI Quickstart
From a paragraph, to a tree.
Ready
My grandfather Arif Sohail Bakhtiar married Yasmin Choudhury in Karachi in 1962. They had two children: Fareed and Aneesa. Fareed later married Layla Farooq. Aneesa moved to London and never remarried.

Encrypted archive

Every document, sealed and audit-logged.

Wills, deeds, marriage records, medical letters. Each file gets its own 256-bit key; that key is wrapped by a KMS master key that never leaves the vendor boundary. Nothing downloads without a fresh presigned URL — and every access is signed with who, when, and why.

  • AES-256-GCM · per-file data keys
  • KMS envelope · master key on the vendor HSM
  • Presigned S3 URLs · 60-second TTL
  • Steward + role gates · immutable audit trail

Biography

Voices, kept.

Record a grandparent’s story on their phone. The platform transcribes it, chapters it, and pairs it with a cover image. Audience controls decide who can listen — the whole family, a single branch, or one person after you.

Cordelia Vance and the 1972 flood are fictional. The playback + transcript mechanic is the real one.

Transcript
It was August of '72, and the river hadn't crested that high in living memory. My father your great-grandfather woke us at three in the morning. The barn was already ankle-deep. Grandma Ester was in her nightgown with the kerosene lantern, shouting for the dog. We drove the pickup up the hill road and watched the water climb the mailbox by six that morning. When it finally started dropping, the smell of silt was everywhere thick, sweet, and awful. Weeks later, when I was helping Papa clean out the tool shed, I found the family Bible on the top shelf, dry as a bone. My mother said that was the first time she'd cried since her own mother died.

Money the family raises. Money the family releases.

A shared fund with a real ledger. Contributions flow in; support requests get reviewed by named stewards. Every vote and every disbursement is signed with who, when, and how much — append-only, disputable, auditable.

The Ashcroft Family Circle is fictional. Cast the third vote below and watch the request move through disbursement.

Legacy

The last wishes, honoured.

While you’re alive you record what you want done — how your social accounts should be handled, where you want to be buried, sealed letters for the people who matter. Nothing releases until a designated executor verifies the certificate. Then the family sees each directive, ticks it off as they carry it out, and the ledger keeps score.

Idris Iqbal Reza is fictional. The digital-asset, burial-rite, and sealed-message categories are the real ones the platform supports.

Sealed

This capsule remains sealed until a death certificate is verified by a designated executor. Idris named Kamal Reza and Bushra Reza as the two heirs authorized to open it.

  • Digital estate · 3 directives
  • Burial & rites · 3 directives
  • Personal messages · 2 sealed
Verification requires an uploaded death certificate reviewed by two designated heirs · every directive is signed by the decedent while alive.
Gatherings

Reunions the whole family can actually plan.

Whether it’s a summer reunion at a farmhouse, a homeland trip to the village, or a milestone birthday, the same tools apply: one canonical roster, per-person RSVPs, a live cost split, an itinerary the whole group can see, and a photo album that lands in the archive when the trip closes out.

The Larkspur reunion and Kilfarnie Farm are fictional. Click any chip below to change an RSVP and watch the per-person cost recalculate.

Discover the Story Behind Your Name

Your name carries generations of history. Our AI analyzes names, surnames, honorifics, languages, and cultural patterns to uncover where your family may have originated.

Free. Private. We don't store what you type unless you save it to your family tree.

How it works

From cold signup to a living archive.

  1. Create your space

Sign up in under a minute. Your family space is private by default — nothing is visible to anyone until you invite them in.

  2. Build your tree

Fill a quick Quickstart form, or paste a paragraph describing your family and let the platform propose the structure. Edit any card from the tree, any time.

  3. Invite your family

Share a link with parents, siblings, and cousins. Roles decide who edits, who reads, and who approves membership claims.

Designed for perpetuity.

AES-256 encryption at rest

Documents live in AWS S3 encrypted with AWS KMS. Presigned URLs, per-request, so raw storage credentials never touch a browser.

Portable archives

Export your family’s data as PDF or JSON at any time. No lock-in — your archive belongs to you, not the platform.

Multi-custodial access

Family members are invited by role. Owner, admin, and steward permissions gate every edit and share; every action is audit-logged.
